You have a smaller amount of chakra required for an ultimate. They prefer spam, otherwise they wouldn't have changed aspects just to fit around the counter system. That kind of play style is what Namco Bandai is supporting. That entire match, all he does is jump to bait his opponent and try a counter. Since it renders his opponent defenseless he does damage when they are countered.

The player using Itachi is running away and waiting for the chance to counter. This is because it requires skill to actually fight, so people who are bad want to depend on this broken mechanic. People in Rev literally run away for entire matches just to wait for an opening to counter. If you are so bad to 1, lose all of your subs, and 2, get caught again, you deserve to be punished, not given a mechanic that allows guard break just because you know you can't keep up.

It does not let players play how they want, it takes away the option to play aggressively, severely slowing down the entire match and giving free guard breaks to people that are lacking in skill to defend against simple combos/rushing. This means that anyone camping and hoping for a counter will get one.Ĭounter does nothing good to this game.

Ultimates can take away near full bars of health. Anyway this gives the opponent, no matter how skilled, the chance to hit your ass with an ultimate, combo you, do anything. 10/10 mechanic right? That totally makes sense. If you hit your opponent with it, you break their guard.even when they aren't guarding. The idea is you use it and it starts up like relay but fast. So now instead of a unique useful item, everyone gets 2 guard break pills. They give you guard break pills as well in an item space. It's a defense tactic used to jump over supports, force your opponent into a sub, or really avoid combos/tilts, so on. Not to mention those moves are completely predictable now because all you can do is jump straight up and fall back down or else you'll ninja move. The only guard jumping you can do is straight up (as opposed to every direction) in the middle of combos, if you try to move in any direction while doing that you are now wide open ninja moving. In the new game, you have to ninja move out of the way and you better hope they don't have a tracking jutsu because you'll get hit if you try to ninja move away. With this you can maneuver, try to get close to a spamming opponent while still guarding. And even if you get hit with the jutsu, you were guarding so you take less damage than if it hit you without it. You control the direction, the speed all while still guarding. You see, if you're guard jumping, you have more control over your character. Why would we want to trade the completely secure guard jump for a ninja move that will get us hit by jutsus and we'll take the full damage. If you try, you ninja move, if you move the joystick at all while guarding, you will ninja move. Instead you are forced to ninja move rather than jump guard. One of my biggest issues is they removed jump guarding. Revolution is like a simplified Storm 3, that's also why cancelling into ultimates is now easier and you get free guard breaks it's just easier and instead of using skill, they prefer spam. It's limited in this way because it's harder to fight someone who knows cancels well. You cannot do any cancels that involve tilts or grabs, successfully limiting everyone to the same moves and slowing the pace of matches down.

You can no longer do this or this or this or barely anything in this video. Essentially, they took out tactics that were used to lengthen combos or simply provide a different way to end a combo/do more damage/style.įor example. In Revolution, they have taken out MOST, almost all of the options that let you do style play, defend yourself, and sort of make it all about spamming which is really really awful especially since Namco Bandai is trying to get it recognized as a real fighting game (and into Evo). Revolution's new mechanics are terrible, and I'll explain exactly why.

CC2, the developers, also use these "filler games" to test out new mechanics to the series and see if they will work. Revolution is coming between Storm 3 and Storm 4. Generations game in between Storm 2 and Storm 3. These games have no story mode and are made simply to tie you over until the next release. Revolution is a "filler game" just like Generations was. Do not get Storm Revolution, it's the worst in the series.
